Disrupting Social Media

As parents, we often ask ourselves, “How do we help our children parse fact from fiction in the ever-engulfing tsunami of misinformation?” This course, tailored to 4th,  5th  and 6th graders, is our answer to that question.

The School of Hard Facts will not only provide a fact-checking filter through which your child will be able to identify — and dismiss! — misinformation, it will also encourage them to deliberate before publishing words, images and videos of themselves or others on various platforms (TikTok, Snapchat, Instagram, etc.) by teaching to slow down and think through how they want to be and be seen online with a memorable self-inventory checklist. In our class, "Managing Your Digital Footprint," they'll learn to conduct themselves online like seasoned and responsible journalists.

This class will also help thwart cyberbullying by equipping students with the tools they need to disrupt false narratives circulating online about their classmates. Ultimately, they will learn to dismiss what they can’t confirm and rely on their own assessments of others, a critical first step in stemming the destructive impact of online bullying.

Together, we can stop the spread of misinformation. Learn more about our offerings at Classes
